From Friday 23rd to Sunday 25th August 2019, the West Area of Nigeria had a fun-filled weekend full of excitement, suspense and education as over 500 young people from the 15 districts cared for by Apostle Oscar Nwanza gathered together at Abeokuta, Ogun State, for this year's annual Youth Convention.

The event, held under the theme “Rich in the Love of Christ”, had Lead Apostle Geoffrey Nwogu as a special guest together with all the members of the Central Working Committee for the 2020 National Youth convention in Benin. Also in attendance were Apostles Augustine Rotimi, Emmanuel Hagher (Rtd), Bishop Adelabu, District leaders and Area youth leaders across the country.

In his welcome address the host, Apostle Oscar Nwanza, wished all a blissful and blessed stay in Abeokuta insisting that all participants should allow themselves to be rich in the love of Christ through the teachings of the apostolate.

The Lead Apostle also in his opening remarks was full of praise to God in His unfailing love and guidance and charged the young people to abide by the golden rule, “Do unto others as you wish them do unto you”. He further stressed the need for the young people to be submissive and be prepared to adhere strictly to the teachings of the Apostles in other to gain understanding and wisdom. “This should be your guiding light if you want to be rich in Christ”, he concluded.

The first day featured a brief history of Abeokuta which means “Refuge under the Rock” and the history of our church in Abeokuta. Other events lined up for that day included a march-past by participating districts and a guard of honour mounted by the youth orchestra for the guests.

Lagos District was adjudged the best in the march-past followed by Ibadan and Ikole districts.

The evening session featured song performances in local dialects and poetry, cultural dance and choreography as well as a stage play exhibiting the rich cultural heritage of the Yoruba people of western Nigeria. It was indeed a worthwhile and overwhelming experience.
